MODIFIED

Directed by Aube Giroux

Modified is an award-winning documentary-memoir that follows a ten-year mother-daughter investigative journey seeking to find out why genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are not labeled on food products in Canada and the US, despite being labeled in 64 countries around the world. Rooted in a shared love of gardening and cooking, the film tells of the rich food legacy passed down by the filmmaker’s mother, an avid gardener and food activist who battled cancer during the film’s production. Interweaving the personal and the political, Modified exposes the cozy relationship between the agribusiness industry and our governments, making a strong case for a more sustainable and transparent food system.
